Hello world!

I will not make any lofty claims about my blog.  It is strictly to hold my thoughts, most likely on work having to do with Wesnoth.  Real life may be interspersed throughout, but I find that doubtful.  I find nothing I do so incredibly interesting as to bore others with it.  At the same time, I may occasional make references to things that I like or enjoy, so bear with me.

Wesnoth Accomplishments To Date:

Maintainer

  • A Rough Life – I discovered this little gem through a random download from the add-on server, and fell in love with it’s dialogue and story. (So well written!)  I asked for permission to maintain it, and have addressed several bugs/gameplay issues, but am currently struggling with several of the harder mistakes.  I am no coder, but I am using this project to motivate me to learn more of WML.
  • Conquest of a Dark Queen – Originally solely Mica’s work, he asked me to be a maintainer after I helped with some fixes during his absence.  I had already written the dialogue/story for him, so there was no problem stepping up to help out.  Currently stopped I believe though, as his interest bounces around and he has been on sporadically.

Dialogue:

  •  Count Kromire – An interesting campaign by Velensk, I throughly enjoyed it.  I liked the idea behind the story and the use of the Era of Myths, though often times the original dialogue seemed to fall on its face.  I offered my services, and effectively reworded all of the dialogue.
  • A New Order – I started work on this after Rhishisikk put out that he was swamped by code, and needed others to work on the rest of the issues in the campaign.  Starting out initially as a playtester, the horrendous dialogue made me opt to work on that instead.  Some of it ended up being rewritten and inserted, but given the size of the task at hand, we have effectively settled for leaving it as it is, and moving on to make a properly written sequel.
  • Crawling Horror – …Interesting campaign by Woodmouse.  Nothing too spectacular, but not a bad play, though it is broken about halfway through.  I wrote all of the dialogue and story, just to have him abandon the campaign/disappear from the forums.

Testing (I love to test new campaigns, to try out other people’s new ideas.  As such, I spent a significant amount of time in this forum.)

  • A New Order – Done solely to help out Rhishisikk, I managed to play through most of the campaign and found it enjoyable, but terribly long.  His fixes have improved on a host of issues, and made it much more painless.
  • War of the Dragon – Written by Velensk, I enjoyed this campaign as well. (What can I say, he tends to have compelling stories.)  Focused on the windsong, I tried it out to attempt to learn how to play with a new faction, and helped him report bugs.  Progress is currently stalled after 9? scenarios, as he has been on less and less and has not made any more scenarios.
  • Darkness to Light – Written by Eolith, it uses his Dark Century era and is a fairly decent play.  He favors larger levels where the player must try to manage strategy against several enemies.  Only 9/26 scenarios at present, and as of Nov. 26, he has not posted any more progress.
  • Death Is A Circle – Written by orcish_orc, it is not a particularly hard campaign, but certainly makes for an interesting play.  It is focused on the delicate balance that exists between the undead, and how they fight with each other as much as their enemies for power.  Progress still being made, as of Dec. 3rd.
